Almost everyone that visits our site is a petrolhead at some level. Some are more interested in cars than others. Some also understand cars more than others. We gave you some special contents in the past, such as how to do Heel and Toe braking
, so here’s another one for you new Speeders out there, we’re explaining some of the most common engine types so you can understand it better.
1. Inline Four Cylinder
It’s probably the most common engine type out there, because it’s also the simplest one there is. One cylinder bank, one cylinder head and one valve train. Less material, less cost. Here are the advantages and disadvantages:
- The four-cylinder, inline four is small and compact, so it can fit in just about any engine bay. Simply put, you could put it pretty much in any car.
- It’s light, since it doesn’t use much material like we’ve mentioned.
