  • [SC NEWS] Ferrari Festival of Speed: A Day with Maranello’s Finest

Here it is, the main event. Ferrari Jakarta’s main event on celebrating Ferrari’s 70th anniversary. After a classic Ferrari exhibition, a grand launching on the LaFerrari Aperta, and a red gala dinner for the VIP, it was finally time for the Festival of Speed.

In case you’re wondering what the event was like, the Ferrari Festival of Speed has a similar concept with the Goodwood Festival of Speed; it’s basically a weekend – or in this case – a day full of fast and exotic cars, from a parade of Ferrari’s best models, to a Concours d’Elegance where the finest cars are displayed and a time attack and free track session on the BSD temporary city circuit for FOCI members. It was truly a day of nothing but screaming engines and burning rubber.

We start off with a parade of some of Ferrari’s best offering, including the LaFerrari Aperta, two LaFerraris, a beautiful Enzo – the other one was on display only wasn’t taken on the parade – as well as an F12tdf in blue and a tailor-made Ferrari F12 in blue as well. There were dozens of Ferraris being driven down the track for the parade, but really we can’t show you every each one of them.

Afterwards was a quick powersliding show by Amandio – one of Indonesia’s finest drifters – in the brand new Ferrari 488GTB. Showcasing the 488’s performance and abilities over the limits, as well as making us supercar fanboys really happy.

He also went for more donuts session later on in the F430. Not everyday you get to see a Ferrari being drifted through suburban streets now do you?

Up next, classic car enthusiasts were in for a treat. A parade of Ferrari’s classic lineup, including the beautiful Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa – which sounded amazing with that carbureted ‘Colombo’ V12.

My personal favorite from the classic lineup was this 365 GT 2+2, rather than being a hardcore performance Ferrari for the track enthusiasts, Enzo Ferrari made the 365 GT for it’s clientele who prefers luxury, comfort and elegance. And it delivers.

There were other classics as well such as the 512 lineup we saw earlier at the press conference, a 246GT Dino, and a 328GTS.

Next was a parade of Ferrari's racing heritage. Alongside the Daytona LM, other track-only cars from Ferrari also went on the parade, including the Ferrari 488 and the 599XX. You had to be there to believe the bellow this V12 monster makes.

The race cars were amazing, it was just missing one thing; Ferrari's F1 cars.

After the parade, there was an open track session for FOCI members as well as a time attack battle between Indonesia’s and Italy’s Ferrari drivers. It was endless flybys from these Ferraris from our point of view.

The Ferrari Festival of Speed was like no other event that has been held before in Indonesia. Rather than simply being a track day for the members or a car show where the public could only look at these beauties at a distance, it was a showcase of some of Ferrari’s most beautiful and most elegant creations, not to mention a showcase of it’s brute force and performance. Not everyday you’re able to see three LaFerraris at one place being driven hard. It was truly, a festival of speed.

It gave us a taste of what Goodwood Festival of Speed was like, and hopefully this will inspire event organizers to hold a similar event, where us petrolheads can really have fun.

If you missed out the chance on seeing this beauties, not to worry, as a closing event for the 70th anniversary celebration, Ferrari Jakarta is showcasing six cars at Plaza Indonesia until the 30th April 2017. We won’t spoil it for you by telling what’s going to be there, but you won’t be disappointed, that we can tell you.

We’d like to thank Ferrari Jakarta for organizing such a great event, truly a befitting celebration for the car maker’s 70th anniversary. Forza Ferrari!
