  • [NEWS] Singer and Williams Creates A 500bhp Air-Cooled Engine

Singer is a California-based firm which takes old Porsche 911s and adds their own modern touches to it, think of it as a Porsche with modern technologies, a restomod. Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, as they call it.

Previous versions of the engine are tuned by Cosworth and are good for 380 horsepower, but should you find that too handful then you can ask them to make a milder 300 horsepower version. Now though, Singer have worked together with Williams to create a 500 horsepower air-cooled flat-six engine. Drool.

The basic unit is Porsche's 1990 3.6L engine, although not much from the original engine is left. The engine now displaces 4.0L, with quad-cams, titanium con rods, alumunium throttle bodies, and a titanium exhausts as well. It's good for 493 horsepower and revs all the way to 9,000rpm. All this from an air-cooled engine that's going to be put into the body of a classic 911.

To put things into perspective, the performance this engine will be offering is about the same as that of a modern 911 GT3 RS. Yes, we want one please.
