  • [NEWS] Porsche Reveals The New Cayenne

Porsche purists were infuriated when Porsche started making cars like the Boxster and Cayman, basically anything that wasn't a 911 will get into the nerves of these purist. That was a mid-engine sports car, so can you imagine how these purists would react when Porsche revealed a big SUV like the Cayenne? Well, they went mad. But Porsche proved that they're engineering finesse is like no other; the Cayenne was a success.

The new Cayenne's wheelbase remains the same, but its overall length increases by 63mm and the roof is 9mm lower, with the increased use of horizontal lines at the front end, this gives the Cayenne a slightly wider-looking stance.

The whole car doesn't look that different compared to the older version, with mostly subtle changes on the front with styling cues from the Macan and Panamera, but the rear-end of the car does get quite a lot of changes, with very similar lights with the Panamera.

At the launch, the engine is restricted to two options at the moment, a 3.0L V6 turbocharged unit with 335 horsepower which is available in the Cayenne guise, meanwhile the Cayenne S is available with 2.9L V6 twin-turbocharged unit with 434 horsepower which is available should you need to get your kids to school quickly.

Inside the Cayenne's dashboard has been completely overhauled, gone are the complicated rocketship-style buttons and hello Porsche's new interior with a 12.3 inch screen as your entertainment system.

To be honest, we're a bit underwhelmed with the Cayenne as we would prefer a Macan or a Panamera instead. Perhaps once they launch the Turbo S or perhaps even a GTS lineup then it would look much better and we'd be interested.
