  • [NEWS] Tech-Fest: The New Audi A6

Audi has unveiled their new A6 ahead of it's official debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and while the changes are noticeable and it's looking pretty good, it still looks typically German. Thankfully, the technology is still typically German as well.

It's massive, spanning at 5 meters long the new A6 wont be the most nimble thing. To get around this, Audi has incorporated a rear-wheel drive system where the rear-wheels will turn as much as 5-degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels to help it get through small streets and tight u-turns.

They're launching the A6 with two engine options; a 3.0L V6 TDI with 282 horsepower which is more than enough and should be good for 42.8mpg, and the 3.0L TFSI V6 petrol that packs 335 horsepower, transferring it through a 7-speed twin-clutch system, with a 0-100km/h time of 5.1 seconds. Not bad at all.

Both engines and all other engines to come comes equipped with a mild hybrid system, where a belt alternator system combined with a lithium ion battery will make stop-start smoother, and allows the engine to turn off while coasting between 34mph and 99mph. Fancy.

Inside it's usual Audi luxury, but you get a total of three screens, there's two screens in the middle with the one on the top mainly for entertainment, and the lower one for controlling the A/C. You also get a fully digital 12.3-inch screen as the instrument cluster, where it will display the GPS and - obviously - your speed.

It's great, there's no other way of putting it, but we can't help thinking that the Indonesian motorists will still prefer a 5-Series or even the E-Class. Still, we can't wait to see what the S and RS version will be like.
